 American Gold Star Mothers

An organization of mothers who have lost a son or daughter in the service of our country. A Veterans Service Organization, American Gold Star Mothers continue to honor our sons and daughters through service — service to veterans and patriotic events. Several chapters in Wisconsin, including Milwaukee, Brown County and Marquette. If you have lost a child in the service to our country and would like the community of others in your situation, we invite you to join. No one knows how you feel like another mother who has lost a child.

Blue Star Families

Organization serving as a bridge between families and support and service organizations that are striving to help make military life more sustainable. Programs include Books on Bases, Blue Star Museums, Operation Honor Corps, Blue Star Theatres, Operation Appreciation and a suite of military spouse employment initiatives that include interactive Blue Star Spouse Networks and Blue Star Jobs.

USO of Wisconsin

USO Wisconsin has three service centers where they offer support to military and the families. They also provide various programs to service members throughout the state including: ensuring families have gifts around the holidays, providing families dinners at the end of the month, and offering a place for military to relieve stress and find answers to any questions they may have.

Badger Yellow Ribbon

The Badger Yellow Ribbon Program provides educational information events and activities for military members of Wisconsin, their Families, and community members to facilitate access to services and support their health and well being throughout the entire deployment cycle.

VFW National Home for Children

This unique community, located in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, provides housing and services for military or veteran families that need to recover from crisis, find stability, or deal with life’s challenges. The National Home’s community is open to families of active-duty military personnel, veterans and – recognizing that the effects of war can last for generations – descendants of members of the VFW and its Auxiliary. The family can be one or both parents with one or more children.

The Fisher House program offers shelter and support during a medical crisis. Located on the grounds of VA hospitals and other military medical centers, Fisher House facilities provide a comforting “home away from home” while a loved one is receiving care in an unfamiliar environment.
